My story

My name is Mina and since my 18th birthday I am actively involved in the local politics of my favourite city. In Rotterdam I grew up and in Rotterdam I want to keep developing. Therefore, I study general and tax law at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and advance student interests through the student union ‘STUUR’ (Advisory Board) and the legal network association ‘NILS Netherlands’ (Supervisory Board).

However, I want to advance the interests of everyone in our beautiful city. Hence, I am a city councilor for GroenLinks and before that, as president of the workgroup ‘Groen’ I actively participated in making the future for our city durable as well as enfranchise our youth in this discussion. I line with our Rotterdam saying “Don’t talk, but act” and with a compassion for others, I do volunteer work.

I am raised trilingually and speak Farsi, Turkish, English and Dutch. Nonetheless, I try to learn more languages to be able to get in touch with many more people in our city. Moreover, I am a member of the supervisory board of a centre for sexual- and reproductive rights), tennis every week and work as a paralegal at a law office in Amsterdam (Regulatory).

In the City Council, I am a spokesperson on the following topics: Climate | Energy Transition | Sustainability | Harbour | Students | Outdoor space | Circularity | Biodiversity | Waste | Water | Animal welfare
